The pressure is on to nail a persuasive and engaging message.
Knowing how to do that in your video script can feel overwhelming.
As you sit in front of that relentless blank screen for hours,
You don’t always know what to write
“helpful” resources all tell you the same generic information
Most don’t even show you how to apply that information to your script
So you look to the stars for help (star videos that is).
A lot of video marketers take the next logical step.
They pick an example of what they think is a successful video.
Then they try to copy it.
And hope for the same viral results.
But, it doesn’t always go as planned.
People scroll past your video.
You waste precious hours with little (or no) return.
And your video takes a chunk out of your budget because your message doesn’t convert well.
When you don’t have a persuasive message, your videos become a huge drain.
And they (definitely) don’t help you grow.
Instead of basking in high conversion rates, more leads, and a stronger reputation, your business is trying to stop the cash and time hemorrhage.
Some days, you might even wonder if video is worth all the effort.
The right resource can help you write persuasive video scripts though.
The concise resource that goes beyond the basics with real examples (so you know how to apply concepts to your scripts).
Because your videos should pull their weight and make you money, not just cost it.

Hey! I’m Ame
(pronounced like Ahmay. It does look like Amy though– this is a running joke)
I’m a scriptwriter/copywriter, video creator and the person behind Script Tips.
Most people come into marketing videos from one of two camps:
The filmmaking camp or the marketing/copywriting camp.
I didn’t come from either when I started making videos in 2017.
I was an English teacher in China who took a suggestion from a friend and dove head first into video (ooh were those icy waters).
Have you see those template animated explainer videos like Vyond or Powtoon? Those were my “in” to video production (we all start somewhere, right?).
Anyone could make those videos though.
I had to find a way to stand out as a new freelancer.
So, I went with the full package approach: script + video + voice over
That’s when I realized I loved scriptwriting.
I admit, I learned one script format and stuck with that for years. It was a good format. And doing my own voice overs (quickly) trained me to write like I talk.
My scripts ticked the right boxes.
But I didn’t dive deep enough to script engaging and persuasive messages.
Ones people almost wouldn’t want to resist.
Like most new freelancers, two things stopped me from writing better video scripts:
- I didn’t know which resources were gems
- I didn’t have access to performance data on the videos I scripted
I knew I could script better videos though. In 2020, I started my quest to master the marketing video script.
- 2 years later
- 1000+ hours learning, researching and scripting
- Countless feedback sessions with my mentor (who doesn’t sugar coat)
I know what separates “ok” marketing videos from great ones.
Now, I want to share what took me 5 years to learn with you.
