Why am I the person to write your video scripts and copy?
Well, good marketing material is rooted in two things: persuasion and storytelling.
I’ve spent 7 years “marketing” the benefits of homework (aka I was an English teacher). I have yet to find a student who wants to do their homework.
But, if you frame homework as valuable practice that will help a student master a topic and point out how that topic helps them achieve their overall life goals, you’ve got a lot of completed assignments.
Effective teaching also involves storytelling. My students had a problem. They didn’t have the grammar they needed. In teaching, you can do two things. “Today students we’re going to learn the comparative adjective structure…….(YAWN)” or “You broke your phone yesterday, so you’re buying a new one today.”
My lessons created a story for them. So, we weren’t zoning out on boring grammar rules, we were learning to communicate.
Teaching and marketing have a lot in common. They’re both all about the context, the story and understanding your audience.
So, who am I?
My name really isn’t Amy, I promise. Ame is pronounced [Ah-may].
I’m from the windy city of Chicago. Fun fact, we got that name because of our politicians. NOT the strong winds that practically blow me over.
I’m a:
- Former English teacher turned dietitian-to-be (no, we don’t tell people what to eat)
- Huge fan of tacos, The Cure, and Nicolas Cage
- Average drummer (it’s a work in progress)
I’ve written:
- 4 years’ worth of video scripts
- Health and video marketing blog content
- (too many) essays and lab reports
- Stories for an ESL vocabulary book
How did I get my start in video?
Have you see those template animated explainer videos like Vyond or Powtoon? Those were my “in” to video production (we all start somewhere, right?).
Anyone could make those videos though.
I had to find a way to stand out as a new freelancer.
So, I went with the full package approach: script + video + voice over
That’s when I realized I loved scriptwriting.
Since then, I’ve been on a quest to master the marketing video script.

And what about health and wellness copywriting? Where did that come from?
I ate half a chicken by 10:30 am…a clear sign my diet finally picked up on the fact I was working out more.
This put me on the nutrition track and after a mini-existential crisis, I decided to change careers and enrolled in a nutritional science degree (dietetics track).
This was before I realized I could be a health and wellness copywriter and video maker without being a dietitian, but hey. I’m no quitter.
Seeing the videos I’ve made in action is the main reason I became a copywriter. A great video can increase conversion rates, but the copy around it can stop a conversion straight in its tracks.
So, when I got into nutrition, I niched down into health and wellness so I could support my fellow health professionals.
And I started seeing health and wellness entrepreneurs like you overshadowed by people who have no business giving health advice.
There is only one thing standing in your way though: A strong online presence.
People need evidence-based health information. You have it. You just need help finding each other.
